Adruu |
|
She’s a Royal Guardsman sergeant, often
sent to track down the Ki Durkani for meetings with kingdom officials. |
| Alonsos Trendon of Mylon |
|
Ceravan shepherd, and family. Family asked Ki Durkani to
rid their farm of marauding trolls. |
|
Altoneth |
 |
High Priest of Nin Hursag. In UY 52, Altoneth was
involved in a botched exorcism that destroyed the temple of Nin Hursag
in Hevron. The spirit of Altoneth and the demon were imprisoned in the
ruins of the temple for fifty years. |
|
Amohok
Enderi
|
|
Young gold dragon, born in UY 108. The Ki Durkani
killed the spider-beast Shey Okolro that slew Amohok’s mother when he
was a hatchling, in UY 113. Often travels in the form of a high elf, or
as a canary. |
|
Ansano
Truilith, Saint
|
|
Legendary
cleric of Enlil who created the Wand of Roniss during the Black War. |
|
Apothegm
of Narda
|
 |
Mage-philosopher prodigy who combined spells, with
bizarre effects. Laurana of the Ceravan Mage Guild found one of his spellbooks in UY 113 in the lair of Shey Okolro
(see that
entry). |
|
Arindok,
Sir
|
 |
Paladin of Utu. Master Il-Kemp hired PCs to find
the battlefield resting place of this hero. Rafton found and took
Elsion’s Helm of Brilliance. |
|
Arturada
Deathbane
|
|
Of dwarf clan Sung Turok, undead experts. Studied
the being Dol Kathor, after the Ki Durkani claimed Kathor's keep for Slag. |
|
Aryzon
Silvercloud |
|
A grey elf (retired) adventurer in the town of
Neriendor in north Myracin. Now runs ‘Aryzon’s Adventuring Gear’, a
specialty shop for other adventurers. The Ki Durkani recovered some
potions that had been stolen from Aryzon in UY 126 by servants of Scylla
the dark naga. |
|
Atar’i ap
Kohliko ip Seh-Ga
|
|
(Deceased) Archmage of Kyriss.
The legendary original chronomancer on Kyral, Atar'i discovered the art
of time travel through magic spells. His only pupil was Nintendo (see
that entry). Atar'i ap Kohliko lived approximately 1,200 years ago,
so little is known of him. His time-bending magic was never passed down
beyond his student Nintendo, so chronomancy was a lost art in Penderyn
for twelve centuries. |
|
Avenicklen
Burshai Morr
|
 |
Ceravan
City Mages' Guildmaster. Conservative, bureaucratic leader. Deals more in
metamagic and theory than the practical application of spells.
|
|
Baba Yaga
|
|
An
archmage and witch, this legendary creature is not from this Prime
Material Plane. Traveling the multiverse in her TARDIS Walking Hut, she
was able to capture the Artifact of Nintendo before it caused
irreparable destruction, and she helped the Ki Durkani pull the Fortress
DuQuo from the Ethereal Plane. |
|
(Baelnorn)
Vi’ Yasilka
|
 |
The elven
version of a lich, the noble baelnorn stood guard at the crypt of the
original spelljamming elves who arrived in this sphere thirteen
generations ago. When discovered by the Ki Durkani in UY 127, Vi’ Yasilka
transmitted the story of the elves to their minds, and allowed them
access to many tomes of information about their ancestors' history and lore. The baelnorn then disappeared to its final rest. |
|
Bar-Irith
|
|
Husband to
Pyamith Coreithin-Y’ell. A grey elf composer and flutist. |
|
Baron
Cravor Dryell |
|
(Barony of
Cyrvin) Slick but cowardly, this baron is obnoxious, vain, and boastful,
so long as he doesn’t have to back his strong words up with strong
action. Generally ignored and disliked by other barons, he’s a swindler
and con artist. His military is impressively large, but also lazy,
stupid, sloppy, and unorganized. His subjects are left to get by
haphazardly, mostly on their own, since Cravor’s political skills are
limited to revising tax regulations and devising unethical trade
agreements. |
|
Baron
Krastig Girth |
 |
(Barony of
Gallamir) The most powerful baron in Saraamon, Girth is also
known as “The Lord Gregarious” and “Girth the Giant”. He is a
bearish-looking man with a wild beard and massive frame, standing over
6’5”. He’s a charismatic man who enjoys sport and drink of all types.
Though he seems playfully child-like, he’s unmatched in combat and
ferocity when angry, and he’s courageous almost to the point
of foolhardiness. His forces are strong and loyal, though considered a
tad rowdy by the other nobles. Guests are welcome in his lands. |
|
Baron
Markly Ryvan |
|
(Barony of
Ryvallia) Thin, fragile, and elderly, this baron is sly, jealous,
and cruel. His barony suffers from his avarice and spiteful attitudes.
He’s suspicious of the other barons, with the exception of Baron Dryell,
and is always scheming against them to better his own position. He has a
poor human army, but hires many mercenary forces, mostly humanoids.
|
|
Baron
Sir Laryn Kayborn |
|
(Barony of
Kabalor) Known also as the “Knight of the Highlands”, this noble man
came from royal lineage and has one of the most profitable sea–based
economies on the continent. A traditional knight, his forces are
chivalrous, loyal, well mannered, and educated. His knights are known as
the best in all of Penderyn, and often act as special mercenary forces
for anyone needing their services. He disdains Markly Ryvan, and vice
versa. His domain is often called the Highlands, and his subjects
“highlanders”. |
|
Baron
Stirren Brock |
 |
(Barony of Sryll-Othran) The youngest male baron is
a gentleman and noble, but very naïve and rash and full of energy. He
wed Baroness Lady Julianessa of Othran City in UY 128, combining their
two baronies of Sryll and Othran into one. He still prefers adventure to
governing, however. |
|
Baroness
Julianessa Forch |
|
(Barony of Sryll-Othran) Lady Julianessa
is the only woman to rule in the Baronies. She’s strong and organized,
and does most of the governing in place of her husband, Baron Brock.
She’s s bit of an isolationist, though, wanting little to do with the
other Barons. |
|
Bel Yan
|
|
Captain of
the Griffon Guard in Ti’Ye Simosk, the grey elf city. |
|
Ben- Olab
|
|
Black War
hero and demonologist. PCs entered his crypt in Ceravan City to rescue
his soul when thieves disturbed magical wards protecting his spirit from
vengeful extraplanar creatures. |
|
Bilabas ap
Rillik |
 |
Conjurer, and first Ceravan Mages' Guild
spelljamming test pilot. |
|
Bimilis
Yarden
|
|
Peasant girl kidnapped by Tershang to force the
peasants, and her father Correl, to comply with his wishes. |
|
Bithulian
Miryss, Lady
|
|
Sentinel
Guildmaster. Her guards were duped by doppelgangers who tried to steal
the Urn of Nintendo. |
|
Black
Cauldron, the
(also Cochran, the) |
|
This was legendarily a huge cooking cauldron of
black iron, crafted by the Skyrmm Witches for Vahk Malyr before the Black War.
The Cochran could stew the bodies of corpses, animating them to produce
undead monsters at a prodigious rate. This item seems to have been
stolen from the vampire lord not long ago, if rumors are accurate, and
his Minions have been scouring the land in recent years in search of
this magical pot. |
|
Black War |
|
(Also
Dark War, Undead War) The conflict against the Vampire Lord
Vladimir, begun in the year -56 and lasting until -2. This marked the
first time that all the major good races in Penderyn allied to combat a
common foe. The vampire’s armies erupted from the Kalimar foothills and
began spreading southward across Myracin. His forces included many evil
humanoid races, but also large troops of undead and enchanted creatures.
This was the largest war ever fought on the continent. |
|
BoDorn
“Hammerblow” |
 |
BoDorn
Hyamurblowwen is the last surviving member of the mountain dwarf royal
family of Durath, displaced by the vampire lord. He is the dwarf
Mountain King, leader of his people. Known to non-dwarves by
his Kalimarin nickname “Hammerblow”, he is a driven, excitable but
intelligent warrior and king. He is jolly and outgoing to friends but a
master tactician and utterly ruthless in warfare. His armies guard the treacherous passes and
peaks of the Kalimar Range against Vladimir’s forces at all times.
BoDorn is fascinated by humankind and studies their customs and religion
enthusiastically. He is also very anxious to reclaim his race’s lost
mountain territory in the Doko’Lon Range, and especially Mt. Durath, from
the Minions of the vampire. He avariciously searches for lost heirlooms
and knowledge of his people. |
|
Brandosine
O’ the Briars
|
|
Halfling
druid in the shrine of Sheela Peryroyl in the Shire.
PCs desecrated his shrine fighting mud men, and placated the diminutive
druid by creating a huge oak tree in the middle of the shrine with a
Quaal's feather token. |
|
Bristaph |
|
High elven
guardsman of Lord Sarillien, who admires the Ki Durkani. |
|
Byazac’s
Pass
|
|
A location
in the Kalimar Range, one of the few mountain passes large enough (3
miles wide) to move troops and wagons through from Myracin to the
Kyriss. Famous for its battles during the Jotun Marad (“Giant
Wars”) of the dwarves, and its quantity of norkers. Hnork! Hnork! |
|
Cabra ap
Chuul, Magus
|
|
Royal High Wizard of the Court. The highest-ranking
mage in the Kingdom, she is an ancient human woman who advises the High
King on mystical matters. |
|
Cabri’il

|
|
Key Warden
for the grey elf School of Astronomy. |
|
Callabrin |
|
Priest of
Enlil, protégé of Canon Sontonis. He admires the Ki Durkani greatly. |
|
Cap’n
Snappy (Derl Druth)
|
|
Drunken,
cranky, rambunctious old river pilot. Formerly a sea captain, now runs a
barge in Capperivin. Took PCs into Trillion’s Marsh in his barge, the
Mighty Mackeral, looking for a magic throne (spelljamming helm) for
the mage Disnavrin. Very knowledgeable about Suuhl (lizard men). |
|
Correl &
Melanis Yarden
|
|
Ceravan
farmers who contacted Durkani about the mage Tershang terrorizing the
peasants. Their daughter Bimilis was kidnapped by the renegade
magic-user. |
|
Cy’Pren,
The Fairy Mother
|
|
Legend
says that this sylvan demigoddess ruled the Holy Lands of Penderyn
millennia ago. The elder fairy races say that it was she who took in the
elves when they entered this crystal sphere, fleeing the Commeshk
Varil'ta (Genocide War). To protect the last of the elves, as
well as the other planet inhabitants, from the pursuing enemies, she gave
up her material being in exchange for Corellon Larethian’s aid to
protect the refugees. She ceased to exist in the Prime Material Plane,
and her spirit was used to hide the entire crystal sphere of
Cy’Prenspace. Now, no one may enter or leave the “Sealed Sphere”. |
|
Dallas
McGovernor
|
 |
Comrade to
the Ki Durkani, a diplomat’s son from the Orellyth Isles. He was killed
while fighting an ogre to help liberate the town of Katharr on the
Siliss from monstrous invasion in UY 123. He was widely known as the
worst shot with a crossbow in four kingdoms, and had a keen phobia of
undead in any form. |
|
Daltrathor |
|
Shedu
friend of Ervin the Traveller. Acted as a guard for five years to repay Ervin for
saving his life. Helped Ki Durkani retake the Fortress DuQuo from phase
spiders and orogs. |
|
Disnavrin |
|
Kapurniak
MU Guild mage, hired PCs to retrieve a throne (spelljamming helm) from
the Haunted Marsh. |
|
Dol Kathor
|
|
Former
Kyriss magelord. Originally from another plane, he was trapped in this
crystal sphere after spelljamming in centuries ago. He and the vampire
Vladimir had a personal enmity after Vlad had Kathor’s love interest
slain. Kathor, swearing vengeance, achieved partial lichdom in an effort
to overpower the vampire. However, he never completed the
transformation; after encountering something called the Mirror of Souls,
he foreswore his path of violence, and secluded himself in his keep. His
undead mind began to fray, slowly turning him psychotic. The PCs
eventually took over his keep for Slag Stonecutter. Kathor’s undead body
was destroyed in UY 118, and his spirit banished in UY 126, both by the
Ki Durkani. |
| Doppelganger |
 |
These shape-changing creatures were magical beings
created through unknown processes to perfectly physically mimic anyone
they saw. They were spies and assassins for Vahk Malyr the vampire lord
during the Black War, and even recently a large band of them were
operating as nobles in Ceravan City to infiltrate the Kingdom's
government. (The band was discovered by the Ki Durkani adventuring band,
and finally wiped out a few years later by the Wizard Likeyl of the
Ceravan Mages' Guild.) |
|
Durmaggin
“Copper Lord” Kulrath
|
|
Dwarf, and
the Ceravan Merchants’ Quarter Chief. Thought Slag was "a hoot." |
|
DwimmirChamok |
|
“Spelljamming” in Ancient High Elvish. A tome containing the basics of
long-lost spelljamming lore. The book is 13,000+ years old. Written in
the dead mother tongue of the elves, it describes common elven flying
ships and strategies for maneuvering in three dimensional space. It was
found by Rafton and Reyn Swift in the Keep of Dol Kathor in UY 118.
|
|
Elder
Sprites
|
|
Sprites
are theoretically immortal, in the sense that no sprite has ever died of
‘natural causes’. In Cy’Pren Forest, there are a few of the diminutive
creatures so old that they claim to have known Cy’Pren herself. While
almost as child-like in action and attitude as any fairykin, the Elders
do indeed possess incredible knowledge, and memories spanning many
thousands of years. They’re revered by sprites and other races alike
(especially by the Servants of Ki). In UY 126, the Ki Durkani met with
three of these beings; Pzipyip, Kyihuppo, and Mxstrizli. |
|
Erelitch
Kondorilin, “the Crone”
|
|
In UY 115,
the adventurers had to deal with the hermit shaman, who demanded a fresh
finger in exchange for her assistance. Birchum the ranger sacrificed a
digit for the cause, completing the deal. |
|
Erlak |
|
Cabrythian
mage (deceased). PCs were tricked by a thief into entering Erlak's tomb, where they
faced the legendary Cat of Nine Lives. Each time it was slain, it came
back to life bigger and badder than the last time... |
|
Ervinellinus Opak M’rimirei Tu brenn Oshal
(a.k.a. Ervin The Traveller)
|
|
An elderly archmage
and genius, Ervin is an expert on alteration and abjuration magics. He
was asked by the Ceravan Mages' Guild to try to fix the malfunctioning
Artifact of Nintendo (see Urn of Nintendo entry). He's a planewalker and
now an amateur chronomancer as well, after the legendary witch Baba Yaga
gifted him with some old tomes on time travel magic. Ervin's somewhat absentminded, due to his often
fixated focus on whatever random task currently has his attention. His
mind is amazingly sharp when he pays attention, but he tends to wander
through his day in his own little world. He’s
an avid explorer, and has visited many alternate planes, from the Nine
Hells to the Seven Heavens. It takes a lot to rattle the old guy,
because he's seen so much in his travels that nothing surprises him
anymore. His home is an isolated cabin on a Kalimar mountain cliff. His
name "Opak M'rimirei Tu brenn" was given to him by a Kalimarin barbarian
tribe, and means roughly "far seeing wise man on the mountain". It may
have been a joke... |
|
Feryl
Maris, Lord Chancellor
|
|
Oversees
the daily operations of Palace Perayn and the castle staff of the
capital. A large man with a penchant for halfling humor. |
|
Four
Crowns, the
|
|
(Also, the
Silver Crowns) These torcs were given to the four human kings of the
Midlands in the year -8 by the dwarf lord Khold Khampor as gifts for
their alliances in fighting the vampire’s forces.
The
Silver Crowns were crafted from pure mithral by the master metalsmith
Jorhand of Clan Mithrilmeyterok. They were patterned in geometric
interlocking designs worked into the body of otherwise simple bands.
Over the years during the Black War, these crowns were lost; two have
been recovered. |
|
Gallasin |
|
“Rare
commodities acquisition specialist”; a good-aligned thief & bounty
hunter who recovers stolen items. Met the adventuring party in the lair
of Shey Okolro. |
|
Gallindall |
|
Myracin
City High Priest of Utu. Sent clerics to raze the Temple of Tharizdun
after the PCs discovered its location. |
|

Former paladin of Enlil. Hired PCs to rescue the kidnapped son of
artisan Tylor Korith. |
|
Geymel |
|
Priest
of the serpent-being Say-On. Lead a snake cult in Sylphwood, kidnapping
peasants to drug and use as slaves. |
|
Gichum |
 |
Half-orc barkeep at Rocco’s Pub in Ceravan City. Excellent chef, very
modest and low-key. |
|
Gilati’e
Cothiri
|
|
(Deceased.) Grey elf astronomer who first espoused the belief that
the solar system was a crystal sphere, and that there were other such
spheres. Largely ignored and rejected by her colleagues because she
claims to have been given this information by a group of pixies or
brownies or somesuch fairy folk, and all serious scholars know that such
silly creatures could have no true insight into the workings of the
universe. |
|
Glenn
Yarden
|
|
Correl
Yarden’s son, a peasant. Revels in the fact that he met “real live
heroes”; the PCs who fought Tershang. |
|
Glimmen
Zartixx
|
|
The
tiny “Prince” of the Zrandren “tinker” gnomes, in the south of the
continent. He’s hot-tempered, and not spectacularly bright, but he’s a
very charismatic gnome who has banded the southern gnome clans into a
formidable military and industrial force. They’re known for being
skilled in trade and crafts, and stories are told of their highly
advanced technological knowledge…although rumors abound that the
diminutive mechanics are somewhat dangerous in their creative endeavors.
Glimmen’s gnomes patrol the low mountain range and trade roads against
humanoid marauders and slavers, as well as against the troops of Baron
Ryvan of Saraamon. Northern gnomes mostly ignore Prince Zartixx. This
irritates him to no end. |
|
Gobel of
the Fens
|
|
Prestidigitator who sells "slugs of power" and other whimsical
trinkets to Ceravan locals at festivals. |
|
Gooyang
She
|
|
Jatanese chef and friend of Rocco the pubkeep, Gooyang’s specialties
usually involve slugs, eels, lamprey, and other legless, chewy critters. |
|
Governor
Carnik Fhorvan
|
|
(Port
Cabbarard) Known to all as Captain Carnik the Mariner, this man’s
elderly appearance belies his stout physical prowess and keen
intellect. For nearly forty years Carnik operated a successful sea
trade company, specializing in goods from Kopar. He was a Merchant House
noble, and his reputation, skills, experience, and personality make him
an exceptional governor of the largest port city on the continent. He
also the official Naval Advisor to the High King and honorary Admiral in
the Royal Fleet. He is a lawful neutral nobleman. |
|
Governor
Iyong Vissum |
|
(Kapurniak)
This Governor is a short, thick, roly-poly, mustachioed braggart who
would prefer a night of gnomish poker in a tavern to the high-society
functions he’s constantly attending. Originally a modest thief in the
cattle-trade sector of Kapurniak, Vissum was promoted up through the
ranks of the largest thieves’ society until he was the owner of a
prominent livestock trade guild. Realizing he could make as much money
legally as illegally, without the threat of imprisonment and death under
strict Kapurniak laws, he went straight and convinced his guild members
to go with him. With his insider knowledge of illegal activity, and his
naturally cunning but oddly noble mindset, he was a shoe-in to address
organized crime and advise law enforcement by eventually becoming a
Merchant Councilman. After several years of efficient and innovative
council leadership, he was recommended to the High King by the former
Governor Therrik to replace Therrik upon his retirement. Vissum is a
lawful neutral governor. |
|
Governor
Jiva Styler |
 |
(Baronell)
Lawful neutral leader of the second busiest port city in ‘ Taybor,
Styler was appointed Governor because of his disciplined attitude and
no-nonsense spirit. Styler was an adventurer until a few years before
meeting the High King, and very familiar with the humanoid races of the
Midlands as well as the human citizenry. While not exceptionally
talented as a politician, he runs the river port under a stern hand, and
deals effectively with the orcs and hobgoblins along the riverways.
Styler is liked by the citizens and grudgingly respected by the
humanoids, but considered lowbred by politicians. |
|
Governor
Purciliyn ip Kenir ap Xyrath
|
|
(Myracin City) The Governess Purciliyn is a mature, business-like matron
whose family is famous for its military background. She was an
ambassador at a young age to the dwarven clans in the Kalimar, and was
influential in obtaining valuable mining agreements for humans from the
dwarves and gnomes. Trusted by the dwarves, gnomes, and humans alike,
she was the perfect candidate to be named Governor by Pentor Atryllen in
UY 120. She is shrewd, polite, and speaks many languages fluently. She
also knows a great deal about horses and the military, and often
lectures at colleges and guilds about these topics. “Purci” is a lawful
good leader. |
|
Governor
Pymerin
|
|
(Deceased) In UY 111 a band of adventurers rescued this former
governor’s daughter from goblin raiders. Some of these adventurers later
became the Ki Durkani adventuring group. |
|
Grevell |
|
Biographer, scribe, historian. Accompanied the Ki Durkani in their early
adventuring days, extensively chronicled their adventures. Originally
wanted to be a wizard, but instead made good money as an author after
meeting the party. |
|
Gugulgurgingol |
|
A
humongous, intelligent turtle sage that lairs in the Sitti Askyrllin
(“Knowledgeable Lake”, in nixie). The tortoise is untold ages old, and
an unimaginably powerful psionicist. Legends say that the turtle
literally knows everything that happens within the crystal sphere.
Unfortunately, it takes him so long to say anything that the information
often is too late to be of much use to seekers… |
|
Hadrass |
|
A
complex chess-like game from Kopar, popular in the Merchant Quarters of
many cities. Top players can make vast amounts of money in tournaments. |
|

Jollander
Korith
|
|
Son
of a famous artisan, this young boy was kidnapped by a merchant to whom
his father owed a great debt. The Ki Durkani attempted to rescue the boy

himself poisoned while the ‘gangers carried out plots against the
kingdom under the guise of Kant’s staff. |
|
Kas,
General
|
|
Kas ap
Ken was a mortal soldier who slew the powerful archlich Vecna in the
year -851. Very little is known of Kas, except that he was the lich
lord’s right-hand-man and possibly the only being that Vecna considered
a friend. It’s unknown why the general betrayed and destroyed the lich
(much less how he slew the creature!), but there is no doubt that
he was a warrior of unmatched skill and strength, although of low moral
character. |
|
Keornoran |
|
A ‘high priestess’ in the snake cult of Say-On,
which was disbanded in UY 115 when the Ki Durkani slew the serpent
beast. |
|
Kepral
Nyastrik
|
 |
Ceravan MU Guild mage. Vain, upper class, spoiled, and very sexy elfess.
Much more concerned with fashion than her magic studies. Dated the
adventurer Martin Condoin for a while, was later kidnapped by phase
spiders and held as a hostage for several years. |
| Khold Khampor of Durath |
 |
Lord Khold "Rockcleaver" Khampor was the
Dwarven Mountain King during the Black War. When the rulers of the four
human realms aided the dwarves in fighting Vladimir's Host, Lord Khold
presented each king with a crown of pure mithril. (See the Four
Crowns entry.) Khold was slain in an ambush by the Vampire's agents
in UY 8. |
|
Ki
Arronetti
|
|
“Troll
Searer” in Elvish. Intelligent sword traditionally wielded by the
elven rulers to fight trolls since the Ki'e Varil'ta ("Troll
Wars") . Stolen accidentally by bandits in UY 111 and recovered by an
adventuring band who were later dubbed Ki Durkani by the elf
lord. |
|

heirloom sword of the elven rulers (Ki Aronnetti) from an enclave of
High Trolls. The name is an honorary title, dating back to the Troll
Wars in elvish lore. |

|
Koprisian |
|
(Deceased) Former High Priest of Enlil, Ceravan City. Lived to be 117
years old, and was an advisor to High King Atryllen. Was fond of the Ki
Durkani, and appreciated their efforts for the church. |
|
Korvan
|
|
Leader
of the ancient race of High Trolls, the Ki. Believed extinct for
some 4,000 years, this group actually lived in a small band hidden in
the woodlands, and in UY 111 had come to possess the sword Ki
Aronnetti. A small band of novice adventurers became entangled in
retrieving the weapon, and interacted with these almost-mythological
creatures without knowing exactly whom they were dealing with.
Unfortunately, their ‘interactions’ left a great number of this tribe
dead… |
|
Kul
Gypsies
|
|
This
was a clan of werewolves terrorizing the halfling village of Woodshire
in UY 124. The Ki Durkani party exterminated the entire lycanthrope
gypsy camp during a daring raid. |

|
Leharod |
|
Dwarven captain who dared the Durkani to climb Mt. Krasp in the Kalimars
and kill a rumored “giant troll”. He bet his beard that they'd fail, and lost
the bet. (The PCs

|
|
High
Queen of Penderyn. The queen comes from a very wealthy and powerful
family in the Cabryth Plains area of Urlin. She is much more outgoing
than her husband Pentor, and very much his equal in diplomatic skills.
She is next in line to rule Penderyn should anything befall Pentor.
Leyonessa is very intelligent and pious, and musically and
mathematically talented. Married Pentor in UY 114. |
|
Lich
Lords, The
|
 |
The
Kyriss region was at one time (more than a millennium ago) ruled by
several liches, who were created by Skyrmm magic. For several centuries,
these undead masters ruled the northlands and warred against each other
incessantly. Although their existence was due to the powers of the
Sisterhood of the Skyrmm, the paranoid liches eventually decided to kill
the Witches, thereby eliminating any new rivals from popping up. The
Sisterhood was practically eliminated down to the last witch by these
evil mage-tyrants. |
|
Lorlock
Doyrnohkl
|
|
(Deceased) This gnomish master engineer and locksmith had hidden the
mapstone of the Four Crowns in his barrow before his death. The Ki

This
title refers to any of the evil races or beings that swear allegiance to
Vladimir and do his nefarious bidding. |
|
Minzerus |
 |
Evil
sorcerer who’d made a pact with a devil for power and immortality. He
was killed by a paladin before his hellish deal was complete. The crypt
of he and his three undead wives was accidentally mined into by Sivil
Ackbaril in UY 113, and the Ki Durkani were hired to clean out the crypt
(luckily they did so without one of them becoming the final missing
sacrifice to complete Minzerus’ evil pact!) |
|
Montcarr |
|
Royal
Historian in Palace Perayn. Hired the Ki Durkani to recover one of the
legendary lost Silver Crowns in UY 113. |
|
Morvir
Pass |
|
The
only navigable water pass through the Kalimar Range. The Steng River
runs through this deserted dwarven outpost. During the Black War, ships
and other obstacles were sunk in the riverway to prevent the Minions
from sailing into the Four Kingdoms en masse. The fortifications
here have since fallen into
ruin. |
|
Nadrith |
|

crone and necromancer living in the Keep of Pavison-Lar. PCs borrowed
books from her for the MU guild. Very solitary, very ornery. Uses undead

entry.) Nintendo lived approximately 1,200 years ago. He was the
only mage on Kyral to learn the spells of time travel from the legendary
Atar'i ip Seh-Ga, which he later used to

|
Pentor
Atryllen
|
|
High
King of the humans of Ceryth Taybor. He rules from the Palace Perayn in
Ceravan City. He is a lawful good liege, but very reclusive for one
who’s the ruler of the largest kingdom on the continent. Even political
opponents respect him for his earnest nature, beneficent social
policies, and effective rule. He’s mild-mannered but decisive, and has
worked for his entire rule to promote civilized cooperation with other
nations and races on trade, resource, and territorial issues. He is much
more concerned with improving what the kingdom has than in exploration
or investigation of what it doesn’t. |
|
Pentowalyn
Sayormaron
|
|
‘Walyn
hired the PCs in UY 114 to break into his father’s tomb and recover a
family heirloom sword that should have been his inheritance as the

and base. |

13,000 years ago. She was the commander of the
armada ship Shining Sun, which led the elven refugees to
Cy’Prenspace many millennia ago when they fled the genocidal war in
their home sphere. Her tomb was discovered on Missos, the moon of the
planet Kyral, by the Ki Durkani. Pixie legends say that she
fought beside Ye'Cind (see that entry) to hold off the navies of
the savage goblinoid enemies from another world while Cy Pren, the Fairy
Queen, magically cloaked the entire crystal sphere from view. |
|

 |
The half-sister of Tershang, the renegade mage who was killed by the
Ki Durkani. She attempted to kill the Durkani in UY 117 to
avenge her brother’s death. Posing as a Koparian fortune teller, she
drugged the adventurers and locked them in a sewage system water tank,
then fled back to Kopar. |
|
Salshath
Stoutrock
|
|
Priestess of Berraman Truesilver, and a noted historian of the dwarvish

temple and kill Senli. |
|
Servants
of Ki
|
|
Druids
in the service of the nature goddess, Ki. They have a massive ancient
temple, one of the oldest structures on Penderyn, in the middle of
Cy’Pren Forest in an area called the Holy Lands. They protect the forest
from evil creatures and natural disasters, and the Holy Lands provide a
haven for all beings, provided they show proper respect for the woods
and its inhabitants. The Servants almost never venture into
civilization, considering it a violation of their natural ways, except
for rare Wanderers who travel abroad to see firsthand what transpires in
the world. The Wanderers also include rangers, who have more contact
with outside lands and report goings-on to the Servants. (It’s said that
nothing happens within Cy’Pren that the Grand Hierophant Druid doesn’t
know about one minute later; legend tells that the wind and trees speak
directly to her.) The Servants are neutral and self-absorbed, caring
little for that which doesn’t directly affect their secluded homeland,
but they can be generous and helpful to good, deserving folk in need. |
|
Seth
Noritelo, Lord Chamberlain
|
|
The
High King’s right-hand-man. Seth wields the power of the king in Pentor
Atryllen’s absence. A calculating man with a precise manner; lanky,
bearded and mustachioed. |
|
Shae Riya
S’sen
|
|
A
cerebral vampire who lived in Ceravan City as a prominent rich business
woman and “information broker”. Actually a spy for the Dark Lord, she
was rooted out and pursued by the Ki Durkani. She disappeared in UY 127,
after leading the pursuers into the lair of a lich. |
|

sage Gugulgurgingol in UY 124. |
|
Shey
Okolro Daier ip Kyriss
|
|
“Eight
Legged Demon of the Death Lands”. This beastly huge spider was a nasty
monster from the mountains on Kalimar. She’d made her way into the
Kingdom and killed a gold dragon, inhabiting its lair in UY 113. Slain
by the Ki Durkani. |
|
Shire
Council |
|
This
is the governing body of the halflings of Penderyn. Each village has a
Burgomeister, who meets with an Alderman in charge of a group of two to
four villages (this group is called a “shire”), who meet with
Councilmen, who meet monthly in the shire of Sunflower to discuss issues
relevant to the small folk. The various posts are all elected, although
once elected there is little chance of even an incompetent
representative being removed (due to the hobbits’ innate dislike of
change). When dealing with outsiders or other nations, the Shire
Council usually sends a small group of representatives (no pun
intended) selected by aldermen. This group is comprised of halflings
called Deputies. Any halfling can be deputized, but this brings anxiety
more often than not, as it usually means leaving the Shire and dealing
with Big Folk. |
|
Sillibyn |
|
Grey
elf, Security Chief at Ceravan MU Guild. 700+ years old, a serious,
artistic faerie elf hired by Lady Similis Evangilia when she organized
the guild in UY 22, and still at his post today. He is dangerously
smart, and utterly calm at all times. |

wizard. |
|

|
Assassin Guild contact who hired PCs to recover items stolen by the
thieves’ guild, to prevent open conflict. |
|
Skykatchie |
|
Giant talking owl from Vyaswood, considered a sage
by the sylvan elves. Rafton visited him to learn about the
DwimmirChamok. |
|
Skyrmm,
The
|
|
The witch society that developed thousands of years
ago in the Kyriss was guided by this enigmatic being, who taught the
darkest secrets of necromancy and other arts to the shamans of human
barbarian tribes. There is much debate over whether the Skyrmm was ever
real, or simply an imaginary idol for the Sisterhood. Some tales portray
the Skyrmm as an evil dragon of great power, or a demon, or a even a
lich. Whatever it was, this evil figure made the Sisterhood into one of
the most powerful magic-user societies in the history of the planet,
before their eradication at the hands of the Lich Lords. |
|
Sontonis |
|
Priest
of Enlil. Fan of the Ki Durkani since their earliest days, when they
worked for the Temple of Enlil. |
|
Stick, The
|
|
Unknown person whose graffiti, “The Stick was here”, littered many
adventuring sites around Penderyn in the teens and early 20’s of this
century. Many times the adventuring band would come across this
handwritten moniker, but never found any sign of the Stick in person. |
|
Storm
Thunder Tribe
|
|
Orc tribe from the Kalimar Range that had invaded
the human town of Katharr just north of Ceravan City. The Ki Durkani
freed the town, and the kingdom army hunted down the remaining orcs, but
it was never determined what they were doing so far south. They were
known to be loyal to the vampire lord, however… |
|
T’Hari
Zdun
|
|
God of
Elemental Evil. The PCs found a forgotten temple to this vile deity in
the Death Lands, eventually clearing out the mountain giant and norker
inhabitants. The connection between “Tharizdun” and Vahk Malyr has
always been uncertain, but disconcerting… |
|

commissioned a bow from him in UY 118, but did not live long enough to
receive it. |
|
Tershang |
 |
A
megalomaniacal
Koparian mage, and former arch-enemy of the Ki Durkani. Tershang
tried to start a
rival mages’ guild outside Ceravan City, and subjugate the nearby peasants. He once
accidentally came into possession of the Urn of Nintendo, but didn't
realize what he possessed. After several encounters in various
strongholds, the adventurers killed the wizard. |

the faerie elves. It’s said that nobody can find their way to the city
without the elves’ permission. |

mapstone to the legendary Four Crowns. The Ki Durkani retrieved the
mapstone for Montcarr of Palace Perayn. |

Bayrn
|
|
Servant of the archaeologist, Master Il-Kemp. |
|
Toxin |
|
Old green
dragon who’d terrorized the town of Neriendor in the Kalimar foothills.
Recently, little has been heard of Toxin. The Ki Durkani matched wits
with her in UY 127, and lost. |
|
Tramus |
|
Correl
Yarden’s neighbor; a peasant. His son Vren was injured by Tershang’s
thug guards. |

of the three people to ever defeat her husband arm wrestling. She heads
one of the last remaining Citadels of the dwarven people, immense
underground temples and cities. She cares for her four children and the
spiritual needs of the mountain dwarves of Kalimar while her husband
plots warfare and defense. Tressa is knowledgeable in many religions, as
well as history, politics, and commerce. Her clerics organize most of
the trade routes and head many of the commercial guilds in the Kalimar
Range. |

as the Ki Durkani to steal the Urn. |
|
Tylor
Korith
|
|
Ceravan master artisan, whose son Jollander was
kidnapped by Damius Chamarin, to whom Tylor owed money. Tylor’s
former security chief, the venerable paladin Geemar, hired the PCs to
rescue Jollander. |
|
Urn of
Nintendo
|
|
Originally the “Artifact of Nintendo”, this was a TARDIS (Time
And Relative Dimension In Space)
vehicle. Over the centuries, it became unstable as the star crystals
powering it became drained. The semi-sentient relic began drawing energy
from the cosmos around it to ‘survive’, thereby causing increasingly
disturbing breaches in the planar fabric of reality. Due to an incident
several decades ago, it had assumed the appearance of a giant ceramic
urn, hence the modern moniker. |
|
Vahk Malyr
|
 |
His
name brings dread to all good beings who hear it. “Vladimir” is not just
another lord of the land; he is far more powerful. He is a being whose
life force derives sustenance from the Negative Material Plane, who came
to the planet Kyral from another galaxy centuries ago. Vladimir is a
vampire (the first of such creatures to appear on this world), and as
such has grown to power and great authority over the evil races of the
Kyriss Region. Vahk Malyr rules the northern territory of the continent
from Mt. Durath, the dwarven ancestral homeland that he conquered many
centuries ago. He has not been seen in person in over a century. (This
is perfectly fine with everyone else, however.) His origins,
motivations, and nature are cloaked in sinister legend and mystery. All
but the mightiest beings fear and respect him, and none but the greatest
of mortals has ever opposed him. Vladimir’s a bad dude, and he’s got an
attitude. |
|
Valini
“Windwhistler” Accolm
|
|
Human
bard living in Kalys Forest. He supplied information on the history and
whereabouts of the ruins of Fortress DuQuo to the adventuring party in
UY 119, during their first foray to find the college. |
|

|
Vanallen
Ramias
|
|
Acquaintance of Troy-El Otan, hired Ki Durkani to
kill troll raiders near Kirnin, in Sapan’s Forest. |
|
Vaspalen
Sarillien
|
 |
Lord
of the elves, nominally. Vespalen acts as the chief ambassador to all
other races, a spokesperson for the elven peoples on Penderyn. He is a
high elf, the young (relatively speaking) heir to the title after the
death of the former lord, Caspine Trayellin. The other elf races pay
respect to and generally honor proclamations from the elf lord,
recognizing his more worldly experience with other races and the lands
outside sylvan territory, but it is more a matter of convenience than
any sustained political system. Many do not consider Vespalen to be
ready for lordship, but respected his mentor Caspine and thus tolerate
Sarillien in the position. Vespalen is cautious but friendly, and often
frustrated by the lack of interest and cooperation displayed among
tribes of his own people. |
|
Vecna |
 |
(Also
Veknae, Vechnya, and Vohkna) A lich of extreme
power, Lord Vecna rose up to destroy all other Lich Lords in the Kyriss
around the year -1000. (Some historians speculate that the Witches of
the Skyrmm actually created Vecna as their champion, in revenge for
their virtual extermination by the Lich Lords.) Vecna was reputedly the
most magically-powerful being ever to live (sort of) on Penderyn; almost
demigod-like in stature. Around the year -850, Lord Vecna was destroyed
by one of his own warlords, General Kas, and the secrets of lichdom were
thought
lost with him. |
|
VeskprogKnof |
|
A
magically illuminated dagger belonging to Ranger Lord (and adventurer)
Martin Condoin; the name means “Nose Picker” in norker. |
|
Vladimir |
|
The
Kalimarin pronunciation of Vahk Malyr
(see that
entry),
the Dark Lord vampire who rules the Death Lands. |
|
Vrenn |
|
Correl
Yarden’s neighbor, a peasant boy, gravely injured by Tershang’s
followers. |
|
Wee Ones
|
|
A
minstrel troop of demihumans who travel the lands playing an amazing and
unique form of music. According to rumor, their technically advanced,
custom-made intruments were designed by the famous and enigmatic gnome
master, Moze Zart. They claim to receive inspiration for their wild
music from meditation, and the smoking of a certain herb from their
drummer’s garden… |
|
Witches,
The
|
|
The
Sisterhood of the Skyrmm was a matriarchal society of barbarian
sorceresses and warlocks in the Kyriss Region whose roots date back
beyond memory. They practiced black necromantic arts under the tutelage
of an otherworldly evil spirit, known only as the Skyrmm, and it was
they who are responsible for much of the ancient magic that originated
on Penderyn. The jealous Lich Lords of the Kyriss (themselves creations
of the Sisterhood) eventually wiped the Witches out as a culture many
centuries ago, their few surviving members forced to live in hidden
exile under pain of death if they were discovered. During the Black War,
the vampire lord Vladimir recruited the remaining Witches to his cause,
and they battled the Wizards magically throughout the last years of
warfare. Once again, they were eventually destroyed, this time by the
Wizards of the Gathering and their allies over a century ago. While it
must be assumed that individual Witches survived the Black War, it is
surmised that the Sisterhood will never rise again as an influential
entity of any note. |
|
Wizards,
The
|
|
There
are few true archmages, the most powerful magickers of all, left in
Penderyn. But at one time, the Wizards, a group of great teachers who’d
survived the Black War, began the first magic guild house, where they
stored vast libraries of arcane lore and magic items and taught the most
talented pupils the deepest secrets of dweomercraft. The oldest Wizards
were more powerful than any who have come since, and manipulated
energies of incalculable potency. Stories of their deeds during the
Black War and the centuries prior are still told around inn fires and at
festivals today. Once, the great college they founded was open to all
mages, but the Wizards then closed themselves off in the mysterious
Fortress DuQuo deep within Kalys Forest. No one has seen a Wizard for
almost one hundred years, and they are but figures in the fables and
legends now. |
|
Yalerion,
Captain
|
 |
Former
captain to Vlad’s elite troops. She was slain by the Ki Durkani while
they recovered the Urn of Nintendo from Yalerion's evil verbeeg and orog
soldiers. The monsters had accidentally taken the Urn, thinking that it
was the Black Cauldron of the Skyrmm. |
|
Ye'Cind
|
 |
The
legendary consort of the Fairy Queen Cy’Pren. The fairy folk refer to
him as the "First Bard" or the "Blade Singer". He was the one who took the
elves’ memories of the war and violence away when they came to this
crystal sphere, playing enchanted music on his recorder. It was said
that his recorder was carved from the wood of the oldest tree, the
Original Tree, on the planet Kyral.
When the elves arrived in the crystal sphere known as
Cy'PrenSpace, fleeing from the genocidal enemies of their home sphere,
Ye' Cind lead them against the approaching enemy fleet during the last
battles of the great war. |
